2003 SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED:

The IAFL has announced its lineup and schedule for the 2003 season. The league will have 7 teams participating in different categories:

Division 1:

Carrickfergus Knights, Cork Admirals, Dublin Dragons & Dublin Rebels.

4 teams will contest Division 1. The Knights, Dragons and Rebels all played in last years league. They are joined by the Cork Admirals who were a development team last season. The Admirals will be the first Cork team to play competitive american football in more than 10 years. The four Division 1 teams will play each other on a home and away basis (6 games). The team with the best record will receive a bye into the Shamrock Bowl. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams will play-off for the final Shamrock Bowl place. The Knights, Dragons and Rebels will also play each of the Division 2 teams, but the results of these games will only count towards the Division 2 championship.

Division 2:

Belfast Bulls & Craigavon Cowboys.

The IAFL has decided to introduce a Division 2 schedule as a stepping stone for development teams towards playing a full league schedule. This year, Craigavon & belfast will contest Division 2. The Craigavon Cowboys are returning to competitive football after a break of 4 years. They have won 3 Shamrock Bowls including Shamrock Bowl I in 1986. The Belfast Bulls are a new team who are playing competitive football for the first time. The Division 2 teams will play each other twice and 3 of the Division 1 teams once to complete a 5 game schedule.

UL Vikings:

The University of Limerick Vikings are playing as a development team this season, but hope to return to Division 1 in 2004. The have a game against the Cork Admirals scheduled for April 27th and will play further fixtures when the university term resumes in the autumn.

April 20th - Dublin Dragons @ Dublin Rebels

April 27th - Cork Admirals @ UL Vikings

May 4th - Carrickfergus Knights @ Dublin Dragons

May 11th Belfast Bulls @ Dublin Dragons + Craigavon Cowboys @ Dublin Rebels

May 18th - Cork Admirals @ Dublin Rebels

May 25th - BYE Weekend

June 1st Cork Admirals @ Carrickfergus Knights

June 8th - Craigavon Cowboys @ Belfast Bulls + Dublin Dragons @ Carrickfergus Knights

June15th - Dublin Rebels @ Dublin Dragons

June 22nd - Carrickfergus Knights @ Dublin Rebels

June 29th - Charleroi Tournament – Rebels & Knights

July 6th - Dublin Dragons @ Cork Admirals

July 13th - Dublin Rebels @ Cork Admirals

July 20th- Carrickfergus Knights @ Cork Admirals

July 27th - Semi-Final 3rd @ 2nd

Aug 3rd -Belfast Bulls @ Craigavon Cowboys

Aug 10th - SHAMROCK BOWL XVII

Aug 17th - Carrickfergus Knights @ Belfast Bulls

Aug 24th -Carrickfergus Knights @ Craigavon Cowboys

Aug 31st- Belfast Bulls @ Dublin Rebels
