Dublin Dragons 20-51 TCD Thunderbolts

On a sweltering afternoon in Lucan Trinity College Thunderbolts finally lived up to the promise shown this season by decisively beating the Dublin Dragons 51-20. Trinity's passing game effectively cut the Dragons secondary apart,with Hal Spottiswoode Hodson having an outstanding day at QB.WR's Mark Harris and David Corcoran both had over 100 yards each. Early in the game RB Conor Mc Govern ran hard for an early score on the 1st drive. QB Hodson ran a sneak for a TD and then RB O'Shea broke one for a TD to make it 18-0. Dragons drove hard on their final drive of the half to make it 18-6 at the half.

Second half saw the Dragons game plan come apart as they threw an int to CB Mark Crowley on the opening play.Crowleyran the ball to the Dragons end zone.A string of TD's followed as the Bolts passing game kicked up a gear with long passes to Harris and Corcoran. DT Bill Grainger came in at FB and scored on a run up the middle to make it. 31-13 mid 3rd.

The Dragons could not contain the Bolts run game and RB O'Shea ran a 90 yard play up the gut for a great TD to make it 36 13.WR Corcoran caught the 2 pointer to make it 39-13 Thunderbolts in the 4th.By now DE Hellan had 5 sacks,DT Grainger had double digit tackles for a loss and DE Neale Young caused 2 fumbles.CB Mark Crowley had 3 Ints and a further int by CB Greg Wilmot stiffled any passing threat from the Dragons.

In the 4th Mark Harris caught a spectaular 60 yard TD which put the game to bed.The dragons scored to make it 45-20 but late in the 4th ex Dragon James Marron had a drive for 50 yards and scored a TD to make it 51-20.The Bolts took a knee on the extra point and on the final driove the Dragons could not break the sturdy Thunderbolts Defense.
