Edenderry
Soldiers 6-34 Dublin Dragons

In the Dragons'
second game of the season, they showed their great potential in
a hard-hitting affair with the Edenderry Soldiers.
The Dragons
came out fired up and after a quick stop from their defence, their
offence went to work.? Despite losing their starting quarterback
on just their second play after a tremendous hit, the Dragons marched
down the pitch behind the running of #28 Liam Rowsome and passing
of backup QB #20 Niall Kennedy. Rowsome finished the drive with
a short touchdown run. The Dragons' defence came up trumps again
on Edenderry's next drive with another quick stop, and the offence
went to work again, with Liam Rowsome finishing off another fine
drive with his second TD.Again Edenderry's offence struggled to
get a consistent drive going and the Dragon's made them pay again,
this time with QB # 3 Dermot O'Callaghan hooking up with offensive
MVP Rowsome for a short TD pass just before half-time.
At the start
of the second half the Dragons' defence again stuffed their opponents,
and the offence took to the field again. After a couple of dumb
penalties pushed the Dragons back 10 yards, the offence came up
the play of the game, with O'Callaghan firing a perfect 75 yard
TD pass to receiver # 86 Peter Wright. With the score at 27-0 most
teams would have been forgiven for going in the tank, but the Soldiers
had no designs on giving up, putting together their best drive of
the game. With some good passing, and excellent running from their
QB, the Soldiers finally got on the board with a run by said QB.
Today was not to be their day though, as the Dragons drove right
down the pitch to score again, with Liam Rowsome shredding their
defence on one of his now trademark mazy runs. Neither team was
to score again with both defences rising to the challenge, despite
some fine running from #47 Tom Lenihan and # 35 Oisin Collins. MVPs
for the Dragons were Rowsome on offence and #79 Shane O'Connell
on defence.
