DCU SAINTS WIN COLLEGE AWARDS

DCU Saints receive award for Most Improved Club.

On Thursday, DCU hosted the annual Clubs & Socities awards in Clontarf Castle. This is an annual event which acknowledges the work and dedication committees put into developing their respective clubs at Dublin City University. Maurice, Ciara, Liam and Willie attended on behalf of the DCU Saints American Football Club.

Everyone in the Irish American football community was pleased to find out that, based upon the work which the committee have put into the club over the year, they were awarded with the Most Improved Club award. This award recognises the development of the club over the current year from the last year. To put this into context, last year they were essentially a fan club; they showed the Pro Bowl and they ran a bit of Flag Football. This year they have:

Developed a fully-kitted squad in the IAFL with a roster of 43 players Acquired over €1,500 worth of sponsorship Developed DCU’s first ever Cheerleading Squad with DCU Dance and the DCU Gymnastics Club Hosted many very successful events, including the Christmas, Thanksgiving and Superbowl parties and become recognised as a major club in DCU. Of course, while the work of both the Management and Coaching staff was instrumental in getting this award, thanks must also go to all the Saints. Saints Maurice Cosgrave said about the club members that "without their committment and dedication, none of what the club did would have mattered. on behalf of the Management and Coaching staff I want to thank all of our members for their support throughout the year and I hope you continue to enjoy your time with the club."

In addition to winning the Most Improved Club Award, Maurice Cosgrave of the Saints also won the individual award for Best Administrator. Everyone at the IAFL would like to congratulate the Saints and Maurice for winning these awards which will undoubtedly enhance the profile of the club and attract more people to the sport.
