DUBLIN REBELS:

FEARGHAL O'DONNCHU (Individual submission):

As an individual, I'd like to suggest :

- Full 11's season as normal
- 8's league, or blitz days, perhaps before and after
the 11's season
- Some way to encourage as many teams as possible to
play ball
- Requirement for each team to produce officials for
local games.

Cheers,
Twerg.

March-May
8s Season

Each 8s team must provide 2 people to be trained in as referees. These referees may only be called upon when there is a game either wherethey are from, or where they are already going to. (i.e. if Carrick have a game in Dublin, their guys can be used to ref a game, but if they are not
playing they are not expected to travel).

A referee crew can be made up of any four *real* refs, or at least two*real* refs and up to two *team* refs. Thus, at least two of the current crew must make up any the refs for a game, and up to two *team* refs can be
used.

Each venue has at least two games per Sunday (and so late gamers must arrive early to ref early games, and early gamers must stay around to ref late games).

June-August/September
11s Season

The newly trained 8s referees can be utilised to play more games faster for the 11s season. Double headers should also be encouraged, to ensure that the season can be completed quickly (or at least quicker than the last
one).

Rules for 8s most likely need to be looked at, simplifying some things, perhaps.Teams should be encouraged to submit teams to the 8s competition which should become a totally separate league and have its own "bowl" or
final (or eggcup or whatever).

I propose that 8s and 11s have no interaction with each others seasons.

The win/wins for the above proposal are as follows

1. Teams -
Teams can enter the 8s competition independently of the 11s competition. The competition is a *real* competition and should be treated as such (not merely a sideline as it is used for now)

11s teams can still blood rookies if that is their wish, and in fact, could enter a whole team of rookiesPlayers on the big teams can get more playing time if multiple teams are entered, and this should encourage the entry of more teams. Teams can ignore the 8s competition if they so wish.

2. Referees -
Each team must provide two people to be trained as a ref. This immediatelyincreases the total number of available choices for referees in the league. This can be utilised in the 11s competition and the 8s competition. If
there are 6 teams in the 8s league, then we suddenly have 12 extra trained referees. It should be a feature of "signing up" that you cannot be "forced" to travel, but you can be asked to referee when there is a game nearby
(carrick can be asked when games in Belfast/Craigavon, Limerick and Cork aresimilar, and Dublin and Greystones ... kinda stuff).

3. League -
Teams can start easier because there is a recognised 8s league, and they do not have to "step-up" to get a *real* competition.More football is played, and the players get better as a result.More teams = more chance of sponsorship, and more of a spectacle beingcreated !!
