of General Manager & Assistant General
Manager(s) of the Irish National Program
(INP)
The Irish American Football
Association is seeking to appoint a Management
Team for the Irish National Program. The
team will led by a General Manager and will
also include a number (to be determined)
of Assistant General Managers. The positions
are voluntary and no remuneration or expenses
will be paid to the successful candidates
by the IAFA. The IAFA has a preference for
having Assistant General Managers in different
regions of the country.
Description of
Irish National Program.
The Irish National Program
consists of the Irish National Team, the
IAFL Allstar team and any other representative
teams that are fielded under the "Ireland"
banner by the IAFA. The IAFL Allstar game
and National Coaching Sessions are also
part of the INP. This year, the program
consists of the following:
- Minimum of 3 National Coaching Sessions/Trials.
- IAFL Allstar team v John Carroll University
(home game).
- IAFL Allstar team v GB Bulldogs (away
game).
- IAFL North - South Allstar game.
Future events, sessions and games may be
added to this program as appropriate during
the course of 2004.
Duties of Management
Team.
The Management Team will consist of the
General Manager and Assistant General Manager(s)
and will be responsible for the general
administration of the program including
(not exclusively) finances, organising venues,
equipment, sponsorship, player records,
travel arrangements, liaison with IAFA/IAFL
& teams, appointment of administrative
and support personnel, travel arrangements
and the circulation of information to players,
teams, officials and administrators. The
Management Team will be expected to work
very closely with Irish National Coach,
Phil DeMonte and the IAFA.
Duties of the General
Manager.
The General Manager will have overall responsibility
for the administration of the Program and
will lead the Management Team. The General
Manager can appoint additional people to
the Management Team as s/he sees fit provided
their tenure does not extend beyond the
tenure of the General Manager.
Tenure.
The General Manager will be appointed until
1 January 2005. The IAFA will extend the
period of appointment for a further year
if performance is deemed satisfactory. The
Assistant General Managers will be appointed
until 1 January 2005. The General Manager
may extend the period of appointment of
the Assistant General Managers for a further
year if their performance is deemed satisfactory.
Competition.
All interested candidates are to submit
the following information to the IAFA by
Friday 19th March 2004:
- Curriculum Vitae that includes both
relevant administrative and American football
experience.
- Application letter saying which posts
they wish to be considered for i.e. General
Manager, Assistant General Manager or
both positions.
Applications will be judged by the IAFA
Board and the National Coach, Phil DeMonte.
Candidates will then be short-listed for
interview. The competition will be judged
under the following criteria:
- Planning & organisation skills.
- Irish American football knowledge and
experience.
- Ability to work with coaching staff.
- Teamwork.
- Promotion, financial and fund raising
skills.
