New dates for games lost due to weather announced.

The IAFA has announced new dates for the following fixtures which were lost due to the poor weather on March 24th.
June 2nd
Belfast Trojans @ West Dublin Rhinos will be played on June 2nd (Rhinos @ Trojans game on this date will move to June 9th).
June 9th
Dublin Rebels @ Carrickfergus Knights (venue tba)
West Dublin Rhinos @ Belfast Trojans (moved from June 2nd).
June 16th
Cork Admirals @ Trinity College will be played on June 16th.
A new date for UL Vikings @ UCD will be announced shortly.
In order to accommodate the rescheduled games, the SBC North Wildcard game will move to from June 16th [...]

IAFL AGM – 4 new teams to play in 2013

The IAFL AGM took place earlier today in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin. The highlight of the meeting was the admission of a number of new clubs including 4 who will play competitive football in 2013. The new mulit-tiered league structure was also approved.
A reformed DCU Saints club will return to the league after a 2 year absence and will join the new top division – the Shamrock Bowl Conference – in 2013. The SBC will feature the top 10 teams in Irish football.

New League Structure for 2013 – 3 levels of football.

Introduction of 3 levels of football. Given the phenomenal growth of American Football in Ireland the IAFL have restructured their League Format. The changes are designed not only to cope with the expanding number of teams, but also to reflect the increasing standard of IAFL Clubs on and off the field. 2013 League Structure to be announced on Thursday. New applications being accepted.

The IAFL Board met over the past weekend to discuss the 2013 IAFL season. There will be some very exciting news re: the proposed 2013 league structure announced on this website at Noon on Thursday 11th October.
In the meantime, all teams have been asked to submit their 2013 application/audit forms before 21st October. Audit meetings for all new teams and some existing teams will take place in early November.
Any new team wishing to join in any category of membership will need to submit an application/audit by 21st October – copies of the audit form can be downloaded on the Resources part [...]

Wildcard Result: Carrickfergus Knights 7-2 West Dublin Rhinos

The Carrickfergus Knights won the IAFL North Wildcard against the West Dublin Rhinos by a score of 7-2 in Castleknock. The Knights will now play the UL Vikings in next weeks Semi-Final.

Trinity win 5 in a row

Castleknock College was the venue for Trinity Football’s penultimate game of the season. After recovering from two losses to start the season, the team had amassed four impressive victories in a row and put themselves in prime position to make the playoffs for the first time in their history. Their opponents, the West Dublin Rhinos, had had a mixed season to that point and were looking to improve their record at the expense of their Dublin rivals.

IAFL Week 3 Report: Rhinos beat Phoenix

On the opening kick off of the 2012 IAFL campaign, Rhinos receiver Shawn “Dougy” Douglas caught the ball and followed his blockers all the way to the end zone for his first touchdown of the season. It wouldn’t be long before he returned though as the Tullamore Phoenix opening drive ended in a turnover after a fumble forcing sack from defensive end Stephen Mooney. Set up in prime field position inside Phoenix territory, Rhinos quarterback Stephen Macken lofted a pass deep into the end zone which was hauled in by Dougy.
