IAFOA Level 2-3 Officials Clinic & AGM -SUNDAY 3rd February

This is to announce that the Level 2-3 Clinic to qualify you for the 2013 season will take place

When Sunday 3rd February

  • Clinic Start at 10:30 – end around 16:00
  • AGM start around 16:00

Where Clarion Hotel Dublin Airport

Who definitely needs to attend the Clinic

  • If you were Level 2 or 3 last season, you need to attend to maintain your level
  • If you want to progress to Level 2, this would help you

What will it Cost?

· There will be a €5 charge per car in the Hotel Car Park for anyone attending the Clinic (this does cover multiple entry/exits)

o This is a discount rate on their normal rates

Please let me know if you wish to attend this Clinic – an e-mail will be sent out to those that need to attend.

· If you are new to officiating

· If you did less than 4 games last year (if in doubt, please get in touch)

What will it Cost?

· There will be a €5 charge per car in the Hotel Car Park for anyone attending the Clinic (this does cover multiple entry/exits)

o This is a discount rate on their normal rates

Please let me know the names & numbers attending from your team so that sufficient materials will be available.

With the Shamrock Bowl only 9 days away – a suitable reminder that the IAFL is playing NCAA overtime.
Key points

coin toss at beginning of overtime – options are offence/defence/end of field
series of two possessions from 25 yard line – highest score after series wins
one time out for each team in each period of overtime (unused timeouts do not carry over)
possession ends with a score or offence not making 1st down
after 2 periods of overtime, teams scoring a touchdown must attempt a 2 pt PAT (a 1pt PAT will be ignored)

This week will be the last game Officiated in Ireland for our Austrian visitor – Markus Brenner.

He has completed his studies in Dublin and will be returning to Austria next week.

Congratulation to West Dublin Rhinos who retained their position from last year for the best marked home field over the season in 2011. Details of each team’s average score along with last year’s results are in this week’s Newsflash.

A final reminder before Shamrock Bowl XXV– IAFL is playing NCAA overtime regulations this season.

Key points
