Vacancy – Director of Officiating

Introduction

The Irish American Football Association (IAFA) is seeking to appoint a Director of Officiating who has a strong interest in sport and is willing to volunteer their time to a sporting organisation. This is a volunteer position and the successful applicant will be appointed to a rolling 1 year contract.

IAFA is the National Governing Body for American football in Ireland and is recognised as such by Sport Ireland and the International Federation of American Football. At present IAFA is a volunteer-run organisation and there are over

3,000 active members involved in the sport at various levels. American football is a rapidly growing sport in Ireland and we are expanding our Management team to meet this increased demand.

IAFA is managed by a Board of Management, members of which are elected by the membership, who appoint Directors to oversee various sections of the sport. The Director of Officiating will report directly to the IAFA Board.

The Director of Officiating will be responsible for managing the scheduling of officials for games, events and other occasions as requested by the IAFA Board. This role also requires the successful candidate to manage the officiating financial requirements and procedures ensuring the management of games are run efficiently in line with NCAA rules.

 

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for the role include:

• Coordinate the weekly officiating crews for up to 6 or more games per week

• Manage expenses accounts for League Officials and Team Provided Officials

• Maintain a full set of accounts for submission to the IAFA Commissioner at the end of season

• Manage Penalty Tracker on a weekly basis

• Monitor Concussions and Suspensions and provide a list of names to the relevant Referee’s on a weekly

basis

• Maintain a database of weekly behavioural audits

• Coordinate yearly level 1 and level 2 officials training courses

• Assist in the development of new level 2 white caps by managing their on-going training

• Provide a full list of officiating duties to all the teams prior to the start of season

• Manage the video review of ejections and citations in a timely manner

• Self Starter

• PC skills essential including excel and word
