Tallaght Stadium to host Shamrock Bowl

Shamrock Bowl XXIV, the Championship game of the Irish American Football League, will take place in Tallaght Stadium on 8th August 2010, kick-off 2pm.

Tallaght Stadium is a 6,000 seat multipurpose venue owned by South Dublin County Council. The Council is keen to attract new events to the ever expanding greater Tallaght area and it is anticipated that the Shamrock Bowl will generate a lot of local interest. The stadium is home to professional soccer team, Shamrock Rovers and has also hosted some representative rugby games. Major events at the stadium in recent months include the FAI Cup Final and World Footballer of the Year, Christiano Ronaldo’s debut game for the Real Madrid soccer team. The stadium was opened in March 2009.

2010 will be the first time that the Shamrock Bowl has been played in the greater Dublin area since 2006. Last years game, between the UL Vikings and Dublin Rebels was one of the most exciting ever – with the Vikings winning in sudden death overtime. Its hoped that this years game can build on the successes of recent years which have seen the game develop into a family orientated event.
