Craigavon Cowboys – Senior Team

The Craigavon Cowboys are one of the longest-running American football clubs in Ireland, founded in 1986.

Our senior team is 3-time Shamrock Bowl Champions (1986, 1990 & 1992), winners of the DV8 Championship in 2009 and were victorious in the IAFL1 Bowl in 2019, securing promotion back to the SBC!

Our Flag football programme was started in 2015 to further the club’s ambitions and to provide an avenue for under 18’s to start playing football. Our Flag A team was formed in 2015 and won Emerald Bowl II in 2016 and Emerald Bowl V in 2018. The newly formed Flag B team won the inaugural Glas Bowl in 2019. The flag team also competes at international tournaments such as the Champions Bowl in Copenhagen (2016), Vienna (2017) and Salou (2018) and Flagging New Year in Glasgow, (2018, 2019 and 2020).

Our youth team was formed in 2014 which won the inaugural IAFA Youth League in 2014 and then again in 2015. Our youth team was set up to give 16-20-year-olds a head start on learning and playing football before stepping up to play senior kitted football.

All our teams currently train and play matches at the fantastic facilities at People’s Park, Portadown.

The club is always open to new players, coaches, referees, committee members, and volunteers so get in touch if you are interested in joining the ‘Boys! American football is the fastest growing sport in Ireland – be part of it!
